Frequently Asked Questions

  • Art Psychotherapy can be a valuable resource for anyone navigating mental health challenges, seeking personal growth, or looking for a new perspective. It combines the benefits of traditional psychotherapy with the healing power of creative expression, providing a holistic path to mental and emotional wellness. I provide a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your emotions, work through challenges, and build resilience. Whether you're addressing anxiety, depression, or simply seeking self-awareness, I'm here to help you achieve your goals.

  • In our initial session, we'll start with a comprehensive discussion about your current feelings, concerns, and therapeutic goals. You'll then engage in Art Psychotherapy tailored to your needs, followed by a reflective discussion to process your insights and experiences. I tailor each session to every individual’s unique experiences to promote emotional healing and self-discovery in a safe and supportive environment.

  • To ensure a seamless online experience, please find a quiet, private space with a reliable internet connection. Make sure your device is fully charged and test your camera and headphones beforehand. Gather basic art supplies if needed, and be prepared to explore your creativity. After the session, I encourage you to take time to relax and recharge — self-care is essential.

  • I kindly request 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling to ensure that other clients can be accommodated. If unforeseen circumstances prevent you from attending a session without notice, please don't worry — I understand that life can be unpredictable. While missed sessions without notice may incur a fee, I'm committed to working with you to find an alternative time that fits your schedule. Please reach out as soon as possible so I can assist you in finding a new appointment that suits your needs.

  • Although I don't directly work with insurance companies, I can provide you with necessary documentation to submit claims independently. I advise checking with your insurer about any pre-approval requirements before commencing therapy.

  • Scheduling a session is straightforward. If you’re an existing client, you can directly schedule through my website and choose a time that suits you. If you’re a new client, I offer a complimentary discovery call to discuss your objectives and ensure my approach is the right fit for you. I'll guide you through the process and any necessary paperwork, ensuring you feel supported every step of the way.

  • Therapy sessions are usually 50 minutes long, known as a "therapeutic hour," for several reasons:

    • Cognitive and Emotional Balance: Research suggests that the average adult's attention span begins to decrease after about 20 minutes. A 45-50 minute session provides enough time to explore issues without causing mental or emotional exhaustion.

    • Efficient Time Management: The 50-minute format allows therapists to schedule clients on the hour while providing a 10-minute buffer between sessions, helping therapists maintain a high level of care and avoid burnout.

    • Insurance Alignment: Many insurance plans have specific guidelines and reimbursement rates based on this session length.

  • Yes, I'm committed to making therapy more accessible to everyone, and I offer a sliding scale fee structure based on individual circumstances (with limited slots available). You can explore the sliding scale fee calculator here to find a rate that works for both of us. If we're unable to agree on a suitable fee, I'd be happy to recommend other excellent therapists who might be a better fit for you. Please note that sliding scale sessions are not available on weekends. I appreciate your understanding and look forward to supporting you in the best way possible.
